Can Plastic Waste Power a Global Circular Economy?

Globally, only 9% of plastic waste is currently recycled, while plastic production is projected to nearly triple by 2060. Ahead of the next round of the UN talks on a global treaty to end plastic pollution, industry is advancing nationally and globally implementable solutions to tackle plastic pollution.

With global trade in recycled plastics reaching $5.6 billion annually, and despite recent stagnation in new investment in recycling infrastructure and innovation, there is significant revenue opportunity in improved plastic waste management and advanced recycling technologies; offering potential gains in industrial innovation and incremental progress toward environmental sustainability.

This webinar, hosted by the Financial Times in partnership with the World Plastics Council, will explore how transforming plastic waste into a global resource can accelerate the treaty goals and enable sustainable growth. Bringing together voices from across the plastics value chain, including emerging markets and diverse institutional voices, the discussion will spotlight the industry’s role in creating a balanced and solution-oriented approach to plastic pollution.
